Quartz Replica Watches vs. Genuine Rolexes
Comparing Quartz Replica Watch Fakes with Genuine Rolex Watches
You only have to utter the word Rolex and nearly everyone can see the dollar signs dancing around their heads. Whether they’re worth it or not, Rolex watches are among the most expensive timepieces you can buy. With prices exceeding $10,000, it’s easy to see why a lot of people, who really like the style of Rolex, are buying Swiss replicas rather than the real thing.
But which is actually a better choice – a Swiss Rolex Replica or a genuine Rolex watch?
Let’s take a look at some facts.
It’s true that Rolex manufactures their own mechanical movements and that these movements are extremely smooth and quiet. And it’s also true that Rolex claims that their movements are among the most accurate when it comes to keeping time. However, they won’t release any actual numbers or test results.
Here’s the truth: A $25 Timex or Casio digital watch keeps time just as well, if not better, than a $10,000 Rolex. All watches will either gain or lose seconds over a period of time. The reason is that small electro-mechanical devices count out 86,400 seconds every day. A watch that starts off being 99.9% accurate will be off by a minute and a half in only 24 hours. This means that even mid-level quality watches have to be at least 99.9% accurate to be worth their purchase.
So when it comes to keeping accurate time, the fact is that an authentic Rolex doesn't guarantee you any more accuracy than a $20 Quartz or digital watch from Wal-Mart.
Another little tidbit that expensive watch makers don’t want you to know is that quartz movements are typically more accurate than mechanical ones. Quartz movements have been proven to be more consistent that mechanical movements in day to day performance under the same conditions.
While the quality of Rolex replica watches can vary from maker to maker, the good ones use Swiss quartz movements that can keep time more accurately than the higher priced mechanical movements used by Rolex.
How about durability?
While the Rolex marketing machine touts watch models like the Submariner and Explorer, as being made to go from the top of Mount Everest to the bottom of the ocean, the fact is that most adventurers, extreme sportsmen and soldiers prefer watches like the Casio G-Shock, which have been specifically designed for rugged use, over the expensive Rolex models.
I mean, even though Rolex uses very strong bracelets and clasps, do you really want to risk losing a $10,000 watch while you’re riding your mountain bike along the trail with your buds?
In addition, the mechanical movements used in authentic Rolex watches, while smooth and silent, are complex machines and because of that, are subject to breakage. And when they do break, it's usually an expensive repair at an authorized Rolex dealer. Quartz movements, on the other hand, are more hardy and can withstand more abuse. And if they break, just toss them out because they’re usually not worth fixing.
And finally, let’s talk about price. Let’s be honest. Nobody really buys a Rolex because it’s the best watch around – they buy them to show off how big their bank accounts are. Vanity aside, there are very few good reasons to pay the price for a Real Rolex. With a Swiss Rolex replica you can have the look of a Rolex, better accuracy than a Rolex at a fraction of the price of a Rolex.
And you won’t want to shoot yourself if you lose it either.
